A winter time story, travelling through the woods, connecting to the importance of place, in this case the Shawnee Forest, coincide in almost scientific chart drawings relating to the story of Little Red Riding Hood. HIlary Chandler is a teacher at John A Logan College in Art. She is committed to building and bettering our community through service of many kinds, including art. Darby Ortolano's teapots and vases explore the way form can be both functional and poetic. Winter time is warm tea time, and this was the original inspiration for the series. The glazes are kept simple in honor of the season, and as a way to emphasize the interplay of the various pieces in the sets. The vases continue her exploration of this form, and stand like sentinels guarding the show. Ms. Ortolano is Assistant Professor of Art at John A. Logan College, and a resident of Murphysboro.
